This is nothing new to me: i LOVE Kinesio Tape.
The official website describes “Kinesio Taping Method as a definitive rehabilitating technique that is designed to facilitate the body´s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body´s range of motion as well as providing extended body tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy. Kinesio Tape can be applied in hundreds of ways and has the ability to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation, facilitate lymphatic drainage by micro lifting the skin, optimize performance, prevent injury and promote good circulation and healing.”
So its basically magic in the form of a tape.
Wether it really is all thats promised or not,( it might just be the modern solution to “bang it with a Bible”), i swear, my whole body hurts a lot more as soon as i see my role is coming to an end, or when i realize i forgot it in the changing room.
That said… this time it was no different, in a few weeks i went through a few roles, and its not only useful to give you the extra safety you need (even if only mentally), but if you have it in bright colors its a constant reminder to yourself and others that you are still not 100% ok.
And the best thing about it hast to be that it looks really cool!
Taping can be a bit overwhelming though since there is no really right and wrong, i usually ask for help from my Physiotherapist, but there are many guides on the internet that will help you. This pdf guide i found has a really good explanation on the method and how to apply it, as well as a few examples of treating common pain.
I hope it helps 🙂
